I’m S.K. Samanalakubura, a jewellery artisan from Kandy, Sri Lanka. My journey into jewellery-making began with my father, the chief designer at the National Design Centre, whose craftsmanship deeply influenced me. Surrounded by his designs, I developed a passion for creating my own pieces, learning the importance of attention to detail and precision.

I refined my skills through formal training after completing my G.C.E. A/L exams, pursuing a design course and a jewellery course at the Gem and Jewellery Authority, and later registering with the National Craft Council. I also had the opportunity to work with a German expert in jewellery manufacturing, which helped me master the latest techniques and technologies.

Today, I specialize in creating custom pieces with a focus on precision design, stone setting, and intricate detailing. Each piece is carefully crafted using gold, silver, and other natural materials to ensure the highest quality and timeless appeal.

Together with my friends, I co-founded Molluscan Jewellery, aiming to raise awareness for ocean protection. Through our designs, we express our love for the natural world and commitment to preserving it for future generations.

When I first joined Sippi Jewellery, I was drawn to its vision of supporting Sri Lankan artisans and creating a platform where craftsmanship is valued above all else. The chance to create beautiful, custom jewellery that tells a story is something that excites me every day. Through my work, I aim to share the rich heritage of Sri Lanka, honour the spirit of the ocean, and celebrate the art of jewellery-making, one piece at a time. Each design reflects my dedication to craftsmanship, precision, and a deeper purpose beyond adornment.
